The representatives of the Committee on Financial Monitoring of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan had participated in the International Ministerial Conference on Counter-Terrorism Financing issues. The conference took place in Paris (France) from 25 to 26 April 2018 on the initiative of President Emmanuel Macron.
The representatives of 70 states and 15 international organizations had been invited to the conference scheduled at the headquarters of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development. According to the French ministers, the proposed format of the forum allowed to combine technical (expert consultations) and political components (ministerial participation and the adoption of a joint declaration) in the field of combating the financing of terrorism.
Ministers led separate two round-table discussions, during which they discussed the topics: “identifying financing sources of terrorism” and “suppressing terrorist financing channels”. The format of the event was “question-answer”.
Mr. Emmanuelle Macron, President of the Republic of France, resolved to provide an opportunity to adopt a joint declaration carried out within the framework of the ministerial conference and prepared by experts. This declaration should contain commitments to increase vigilance and cooperation on current and future issues in combating the financing of terrorism
